Description of the Flip Mino HD

The Screen of the Flip Mino HD measures 1.5 inches, the device records in 16:9 aspect ratio. The strips at the top and bottom of the device, indicates the metadata that is much recording time is left. The Speakers of the Flip Mino HD are located on both side of the screen and performs well. If you do not have a TV around for connecting to the Mino HD using the composite video cable, then the speakers internally on the device are all you have since there is no other jack for connecting a headphone for viewing the audio.

The Controls of the Flip Mino HD are very simple. There are two buttons on the device they are called ‘clickable buttons’ and the power button on the top right hand side, which is used for initiating recording and stopping recording. You can also use this button for opening the settings menu by holding down this button when powering on the Flip Mino HD. All other controls on the device are very sensitive to touch and caution should be exercised when using it.

The Ports of the Flip Mino HD-There is a wrist strap located on the bottom right hand corner of the Flip Mino HD. There is a plug to connect to the television called the composite cable adapter. Caution should be placed on securing this plug since it is a mini plug specifically designed to work on the Flip Mino HD, so if it is lost, it may be difficult to get another one to buy. There is a standard thread that can be used to attach the tripod; this is located on the bottom of the device.

Many people were impressed with the Mino HD’s smooth 720p video and its response to the market. It performed well in a wide range of lighting background despite its inability to work well with all lighting backgrounds. Its images are great and the audio is loud-enough.

People with the need to have a pocket sized camcorder usually consider a Flip Video. The flip video is a type of compact digital camcorder that is very affordable with their uniqueness of being very small. The outer part of the Flip Mino can be tailored to look like any thing your want, for example you can put your very own picture, your children picture or anything that you may prefer.

Other factors to consider when purchasing a Flip Video

Though their price varies according to the merchant, they are available on the market at an average price of approximately two hundred dollars; this is very attractive especially if a person is considering purchasing a digital camera. However unlike a digital camera they do not have the optical zoom feature, this means you have to alter your distance if you were to shoot a picture that requires zooming. In addition Flip Videos have no port or input for a microphone, this allows better audio recording. There may be difficulty with the camcorders optics and their ability to deal with speedy objects such as a bird flying. There is also difficulty with the camcorder in being able to record in dark areas and in the night. Therefore we can see that higher priced camcorders that are capable of zooming efficiently and effectively, together with the ability of having more audio options, they are available at a higher price.

About the Flip Mino HD
On 4th June, 2008, Pure Digital released the Flip Video Mino and on 12th November, 2008; the Flip Mino HD was introduced on the market. This device was now capable of one thousand and eighty by720 HD, 30 frames per second of recording. As compared to the Flip Video, it now has a storage capacity of 4 GB and one hour of video recording time because of its larger optical resolution. You can get up to two hours of recording time with the battery, since it is capable of recording up to two hours when fully charged.
The Flip Video Mino is a smaller version of the previously launched Flip Video. It has more features as compared to the Flip Video and it includes a rechargeable battery, rewind button and fast forward button. The Mino is a lot lighter, approximately 2 ounces lighter than the Flip.
What to expect when you have one
The Flip Mino HD is capable of recording a 720p high definition video encoded in H.264 MP4 at 1800 frames per minute. It has a built in storage space of 4GBs. The size of the device is 4 x 2 x 0.6 inches and it is only 3.3 oz in weight. It is capable of connecting to a computer using a USB port, hence no cables is necessary.
The Build
Although the Flip Mino HD feels very strong and durable by having that solid touch, it is very light in weight when considering its size, many people may question its durability based on this. However it is very durable despite its weight. It can tolerate just as much tumbles as a cell phone. To open the USB connection flips you need to locate the switch on the side and flip it open. This switch is very sturdy as well, as compared to some devices, whenever a switch is being used for a while it tends to damage, but rest assured the Flip Mino HD flips are well designed to take on this extensive use. People are also usually skeptical about the small black plastic part that pulls over the USB whenever it is closed. There may be different views of this since it is perfectly fine if it is closed, but when it opens because of the type of plastic material it’s made from it can be damaged depending on your physical movements and carelessness with it. This device can be held up or even hanged from a computer USB port without putting any strain in the port over time.
The Body
The Flip Mino HD shell is manufactured using an extremely shiny plastic material that is easy for you to hold and this can also be difficult to be kept clean as your fingerprints tends to remain on them and create smudges. Considering its deep shine the Flip Mino HD is easy to hold as it has a good grip on your hands. The plastic material is water resistant so if a small amount of water gets on it; it is not completely destroyed forever. But like many other electronic devices it is best to keep them away from water otherwise it might become unusable.
